Biljana Plavšić commemoration held in Banja Luka amid calls for investigation
A formal commemoration was held in Banja Luka for Biljana Plavšić, the former President of Republika Srpska. High-ranking officials, including President Milorad Dodik and National Assembly President Nenad Stevandić, attended the event. Speakers described Plavšić as a fighter for the Serbian people and the first female president in the region's history.
Following the commemoration, the Srebrenica Memorial Center called for an investigation into the use of public funds to organize the official ceremony. The Center argued that using the Republika Srpska budget to honor Plavšić—who pleaded guilty to crimes against humanity regarding the persecution of Bosniaks and Croats—constitutes institutional glorification of a convicted war criminal. The Center has urged the Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina to examine the legal responsibility of those who authorized the expenditure of public money for the event.
