Bill Ackman executes major Pershing Square portfolio overhaul

Bill Ackman, head of Pershing Square Capital Management, has executed a major portfolio overhaul, marking his largest restructuring in years. A central component of this shift is a significant re-entry into Netflix. Ackman holds approximately 3.15 million shares of the streaming giant, representing about 4.9% of the fund's total portfolio. This move follows a previous exit from Netflix in 2022 that resulted in a loss of roughly $400 million.

Ackman's investment thesis for Netflix focuses on its market dominance, growing subscriber base, and expanding advertising revenue. He views the company as having successfully navigated the streaming wars, noting its ability to scale content costs across a massive user base.

In addition to Netflix, the fund has established new positions in Visa, Mastercard, S&P Global, Intercontinental Exchange, and Alcon. Furthermore, Pershing Square is preparing to launch a new venture capital vehicle, Pershing Square Ventures Ltd. This fund aims to provide investors with access to high-growth, privately held companies before they reach public markets, targeting everything from mid-sized businesses to decacorns.
