Bill Bellamy honored with 2026 Icon Award

Comedian and entertainer Bill Bellamy recently reflected on his extensive career following the announcement that he will receive the 2026 Icon Award at Lil Rel’s What’s Funny Comedy Festival.

During an appearance on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Bellamy discussed his history as a pioneering Black VJ for MTV Jams. In that role, he interviewed numerous high-profile musical artists, including Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Whitney Houston, and Prince. Bellamy noted that while he has been immersed in stand-up, television, and film for decades, the summary of his accomplishments was a surprising reminder of his professional reach.
