Bill Clinton condemns Muslim discrimination during Florida speech
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton criticized religious and cultural divisions during a speech at the Koinonia Worship Center in Hollywood, Florida. Speaking at an event supporting Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly, Clinton expressed exhaustion regarding religious and cultural conflicts, stating, “I am tired of people disparaging Muslims just because they are Muslims.”
Clinton shared a personal anecdote regarding his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, noting that she read the Quran from beginning to end when she was 15 years old and encouraged him to read it as well. He cited a message from the Quran to emphasize the importance of mutual understanding, stating: “Allah has placed different nations on the earth not so they would despise each other, but so they would know one another and learn from each other.”
The former president also addressed the broader social and political polarization in the United States, criticizing the “us versus them” mentality and noting that no religious community is exempt from the actions of imperfect individuals.
