Bill Clinton's lifestyle changes cited as health model
As former U.S. President Bill Clinton approaches his 80th birthday, medical experts are highlighting his health journey as a model for cardiovascular disease prevention. Following a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and a coronary angioplasty in 2010, Clinton adopted a significant lifestyle change, including a vegan diet.
Leonardo De Luca, Director of Cardiology at Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, noted that Clinton serves as an example for patients struggling with adherence to medical therapies and healthy habits. De Luca pointed out that many patients fail to maintain secondary prevention protocols, such as statin use, often due to a lack of lifestyle modification. While not everyone must adopt a vegan diet, experts emphasize the importance of avoiding saturated fats and excessive sugars to prevent recurrence.
