Bill Cosby's health significantly declined, lawyer claims
Attorney Jennifer Bonciere has filed court documents stating that 89-year-old Bill Cosby’s health has declined sharply. According to the filings, Cosby is legally blind, suffers from significant mobility limitations, and is unable to manage essential daily needs independently. The documents specify that he requires a male assistant at all times to ensure his safety and to assist with personal tasks, including toileting.
These health claims were made in response to a legal dispute regarding missed depositions in a civil lawsuit. Opposing attorney Jordan Rutsky has requested that a federal arbitrator compel Cosby to testify or issue a default judgment, alleging a pattern of intentional non-compliance with discovery obligations. Cosby has reportedly missed three scheduled depositions.
Defense attorney Bonciere denied allegations of intentional misconduct, stating that Cosby is housebound and that appearing for depositions away from home would jeopardize his health and safety. Dr. Stewart Fischer, who is not treating Cosby, noted that the combination of multiple health issues and legal stress could further exacerbate the actor's condition.
