Bill Gates rejects cryptocurrency, favoring diversified stocks

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has reaffirmed his skepticism toward cryptocurrency, describing it as a ‘pure mania-driven asset.’ During a recent interview, Gates was asked how he would diversify a portfolio away from the U.S. dollar, with options including gold, the euro, the Chinese yuan, and digital tokens.

Gates stated he would not choose cryptocurrency, opting instead for a globally diversified basket of equities. He argued that stocks represent ownership in businesses that generate tangible value through revenue, earnings, and cash flow. In contrast, he noted that Bitcoin does not produce anything, meaning returns depend entirely on finding another buyer willing to pay a higher price.
