Legendary Hungarian blues singer Deák Bill Gyula has passed away at the age of 77. His death was announced via his official Facebook page, stating that he died unexpectedly following what was considered a successful surgery. Medical officials noted that the singer suffered sudden cardiac arrest following the implantation of a pacemaker.

Known as the ‘king of Hungarian blues,’ Deák’s career was marked by resilience. After losing his leg at age 11 due to a medical error during a football-related procedure, he turned to music. He gained national prominence as a member of the Hobo Blues Band and later established a successful solo career with albums such as ‘Rossz vér.’ He was also recognized for his role as Torda in the rock opera ‘István, a király.’

Colleagues and fellow musicians, including László Földes (Hobo), have expressed profound shock and grief. Public broadcasters in Hungary have announced special programming, including concert recordings and documentaries, to honor his musical legacy and life.
