Bill Manners, Nanaimo community leader, passes away
Bill Manners, a prominent community figure in Nanaimo, British Columbia, has passed away at the age of 71. Born in Vancouver, Manners moved to Nanaimo in 1971 and became deeply involved in local civic life.
His contributions to the community included helping to establish the Nanaimo and Region Independent Living Resource Centre, volunteering with the Senior’s Advocate, and serving as the director and president of the Dover Community Association for 15 years. He was also a former president of the Malaspina Toastmasters and a volunteer with the Coast Emergency Communications Association (CECA).
In lieu of services, the family has requested that donations be made to Man Up To Cancer, the Canadian Cancer Society, or Diabetes Canada.
