Bill Nighy joins Apple TV horror series Ascension

Actor Bill Nighy has joined the cast of the upcoming Apple TV horror-thriller series ‘Ascension’. He will star alongside Caitríona Balfe in the production, which is directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

Inspired by Adam Nevill’s novel ‘Last Days’, the psychological thriller follows Rose (Balfe), a documentary filmmaker investigating a mysterious 20th-century cult known as the Church of Ascension. As she delves into the group's history, she finds refuge in their teachings before uncovering an insidious reality. Nighy is set to portray Zac, a documentary filmmaker who collaborates with Rose on her project.

The series is co-showrun by Natalie Erika James and Christian White, with James also serving as lead director. Alfonso Cuarón and Carlos Cuarón are co-writers, and all four serve as executive producers.
