Reports indicate that Wyman invited Smith and her sister to lunch the day after their meeting, claiming to be “completely in love” with her. Their relationship progressed into an intimate one when Smith was 14, and the couple married once she reached the age of 18.

While no criminal proceedings were ever initiated against Wyman, the relationship was a frequent subject of British tabloid coverage. Wyman has historically defended the union, once stating, “She took my breath away...
