Bill Wyman Rolling Stones 90th birthday bassist rock music

Bassist Bill Wyman celebrates his 90th birthday on October 24, 2026. A long-standing member of the Rolling Stones, Wyman joined the band in December 1962, replacing Dick Taylor on bass.

Wyman was a member of the group for over 30 years, often maintaining a more reserved presence compared to frontmen Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. He voluntarily decided to leave the band, a move that was publicly announced in January 1993, though he had effectively stepped away two years prior.

Before his tenure with the Rolling Stones, Wyman played in various London-based skiffle, beat, and rock'n'roll bands. He also later founded the garage rock band The Pretty Things.
