Billa supermarket in Brno closed due to hygiene issues
A Billa supermarket in Brno has been forced to close following an inspection by the State Agricultural and Food Inspection. The agency reported severe hygiene failures, including the presence of rodent droppings and traces of rodents among food products. Inspectors also noted damaged ceilings, dirty floors, and moldy food items.
Separately, retail operations in the Czech Republic will be affected by the upcoming Czech Statehood Day on September 28. Under existing laws, large stores with a sales area exceeding 200 square meters must close. This restriction does not apply to smaller shops, pharmacies, gas stations, or outlets located at airports and train stations. Billa has announced that 75 of its locations at gas stations will remain open during the holiday.
