Billiards season begins in the Netherlands

The 2026/2027 billiards season has commenced across various regional competitions in the Netherlands.

In the KNBB District Nijmegen, BV Vriendenkring from Bergharen began its national cadre competition with a 7-2 victory against De Treffers. Notable performances included Lyon Megens, who secured a win with a series of 169 carom shots, and Henk Bulte, who won his match in 24 turns.

In De Ronde Venen, the competition launched with 14 teams and 93 players. The reigning champions, De Merel 1, achieved a grand slam in their opening night, led by John Vrieling’s high series of 49 carom shots. Other notable results included Robert Daalhuizen recording the shortest match of the week, completing 59 carom shots in just 17 turns.
