Brazil tennis team called up for Billie Jean King Cup playoffs
The Brazilian women's national tennis team has been officially called up for the Billie Jean King Cup playoffs. The team will face Canada on November 20 and 21 in Vitória, Espírito Santo.
Led by captain and assistant coach Luiz Peniza, the squad features a mix of experience and youth. Key players include Luisa Stefani, who recently reached the top of the doubles rankings, and Olympic bronze medalist Laura Pigossi. The roster also includes rising teenage talent Nauhany Silva, currently ranked number 5 in the world in the junior category, alongside Gabriela Cê and Luiza Fullana.
A victory in this matchup will secure Brazil a spot in the 2027 qualifiers. The competition will be played on clay courts, which will be specially constructed within a shopping mall in Vitória. Historically, Brazil has faced Canada 12 times in this tournament without securing a win.
