Billy Asencio receives piano scholarship after viral performances

Billy Asencio, a 26-year-old security guard at the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES) in Samborondón, Ecuador, has gained widespread attention for his piano playing. After videos of him performing in uniform went viral, university authorities provided a piano for the Onco Center building, where Asencio plays for cancer patients to provide comfort.

Following his viral recognition, Asencio has received support to further his musical education. He was awarded a full scholarship by the Sonata music academy to study piano professionally. Additionally, he has been receiving free private music lessons through the university during his spare time to help him master sheet music and formal technique.
