Billy Corgan discusses religious faith and Dolly Parton

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has discussed his decision to be open about his Christian faith despite potential professional risks. In a conversation with Stryper singer Michael Sweet on the podcast ‘The Magnificent Others’, Corgan stated that he made a personal choice to speak about God and his belief in Jesus, even though he acknowledges that discussing religion can be a ‘third rail’ in the rock music industry.

Separately, Corgan addressed the recent passing of country music icon Dolly Parton. While he described having a ‘short’ and ‘beautiful’ personal story regarding a meeting with her, he expressed a desire to refrain from sharing it immediately. He noted that he does not wish to join the current social media trend of sharing anecdotes following her death, preferring to wait until the initial outpouring of respect has subsided.
