Billy Horschel's Hip Injury Derails 2025 Season and 2026 Comeback
American PGA Tour eight‑time winner Billy Horschel suffered a severe right‑hip injury that forced him out for about six months in 2025, causing him to miss three of the four major championships and jeopardising his Ryder Cup prospects. The surgery revealed a larger labrum tear, hip impingement and two micro‑fractures that will take up to two years to fully heal. He returned to competition at the BMW PGA Championship in September 2025 but continues to rebuild endurance and strength.
In the 2026 season Horschel graded his performance "below an E", noting only one top‑10 finish and a drop to 176th in the Official World Golf Ranking, leaving him without exemptions for many elite events. He acknowledged the lingering effects of the injury while working toward a full recovery.
