Billy Joe Saunders praises Moses Itauma and teases comeback

Former two-weight world champion Billy Joe Saunders has made bold claims regarding both rising heavyweight Moses Itauma and his own potential return to the ring.

Saunders praised the 21-year-old Itauma, describing him as the best heavyweight fighter he has seen since Muhammad Ali. He highlighted Itauma’s speed, versatility, and technical ability, specifically noting his footwork and counter-punching skills. Itauma is scheduled to face Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title on August 29, a fight that could make him the youngest heavyweight champion since Mike Tyson.

Separately, Saunders addressed rumors of a professional comeback following a five-year hiatus caused by an orbital bone injury during a 2021 bout with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. He revealed that the Eubank family has been in contact regarding a potential fight in Nigeria. Saunders noted that a rematch with Eubank would be an ideal opponent should he decide to return to the ring.
