Billy Ray Cyrus shares rare 1992 letter from Dolly Parton

Singer Billy Ray Cyrus has shared a rare, handwritten letter from the late legendary singer Dolly Parton. Cyrus described the letter as one of his “prize possessions,” noting that it sits alongside a similar cherished letter from Johnny Cash.

The letter was written in the spring of 1992, shortly after the two met in Chicago. At the time, Cyrus’s hit “Achy Breaky Heart” was beginning to gain popularity. In the note, Parton offered words of encouragement, stating, “I’m proud of what’s going on with you. I too think you are special.”

Cyrus reflected on their long professional relationship, which included collaborations on network television specials and the series Hannah Montana, as well as their final musical performance together, “Christmas Where We Are.”
