Billy Strings wears protective helmet following onstage incident

Bluegrass musician Billy Strings performed wearing protective headgear during a concert in Fishers, Indiana, on August 7. The decision followed an incident the previous night where an object, believed to be a lighter, was thrown at him by an audience member, striking him in the head.

During the initial incident, Strings expressed frustration to the crowd, questioning why someone would throw an object while he was expressing his gratitude for being able to perform. For the subsequent show, Strings wore a helmet from the local minor league hockey team, the Indy Fuel, to protect himself while acknowledging the situation with a wry smile.
