BImA announces Reichstag construction tender and Bonn urban planning results
The Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA) has initiated a public tender for construction work in the Berlin government district near the Reichstag building. The project, designated as BIZ/UKZ, involves complex interventions in protected historical sites. Key tasks include the implementation of a four-part flag system, including the Flag of Unity, the removal of existing foundations, and work related to the memorial for 96 murdered Reichstag members.
To qualify for this EU-wide open procedure, companies must meet 22 mandatory criteria, such as liability insurance, three-year revenue records, and experience in monument protection. The contract award will be based solely on price. The deadline for submitting questions is October 26, 2026, with bids due by November 6, 2026. The contract is scheduled to begin on January 20, 2027.
In a separate development regarding urban planning in Bonn, SCOPE Architekten GmbH, in partnership with ORplan, Degen-Tritschler, and Pfrommer + Roeder, has been awarded first prize in a competition for the future design of the Stadthaus-Areal.
