Bimal Patel sworn in as ITLOS judge for nine-year term

Bimal Patel has been sworn in as a judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg, Germany. His appointment marks the beginning of a nine-year term on the judicial body responsible for interpreting the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and adjudicating maritime disputes.

Patel succeeds Neeru Chadha, a former vice president of the tribunal, ensuring continued Indian representation on the court.
