Biman Bangladesh Airlines suspends officials over Zamzam water delay
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has taken disciplinary action against two employees following a delay in distributing Zamzam water to Umrah pilgrims. The incident occurred after flight BG 338 arrived from Medina at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
An internal investigation revealed that negligence during the offloading and handling of the Zamzam water containers prevented the supplies from reaching the baggage belt on schedule. To mitigate passenger distress, the airline initially distributed water from its own reserve before locating the missing container.
As a result of the operational failure, Baggage In-charge Monirul Islam Pradhan and Flight Supervisor Saddam Hossain have been suspended. The airline has initiated departmental proceedings against both individuals for negligence of duty and stated it is strengthening internal supervision to prevent future occurrences.
