Biên Hòa market blaze in Đồng Nai destroys dozens of stalls, no casualties
Around 20:20 on 5 August 2026 a fire erupted at a bamboo‑goods stall in the Biên Hòa market, Trấn Biên ward, Đồng Nai province. The blaze spread quickly through flammable merchandise such as fabric, rubber, plastic and woven bamboo, engulfing roughly 900 m² and destroying dozens of stalls. Witness Lộc recalled, “I smelled a burning smell, then a loud bang… the flames rose fast and black smoke filled the market.”
Fire‑fighting units responded with a massive deployment: 31 fire‑engine vehicles, more than 150 police, fire‑service and army personnel, plus specialist industrial fire teams. The fire was brought under control by about 22:10 on 5 August and fully extinguished by early 6 August. No injuries or fatalities were reported, but property loss is being assessed. Authorities have sealed the site, are investigating the cause and managing traffic disruptions around the market.
The incident highlights the vulnerability of densely packed commercial areas to rapid fire spread and the capacity of local emergency services to contain large‑scale urban fires.
