Binance employees detained in UAE during fund flow inquiry

Two Binance employees were detained by authorities at airports in the United Arab Emirates as part of an inquiry into third-party fund flows. One employee was reportedly held overnight at a police station in Sharjah. A third Binance official, who manages the company’s Dubai subsidiary, was also questioned by police in July.

Binance stated that the employees were not the targets of any investigation and were “promptly cleared and released” after providing statements. The company described the questioning as part of “routine inquiries” regarding funds passing through a client account. The detentions reportedly involved staff members whose names were listed on a corporate bank account used by the exchange for customer deposits and withdrawals.

While the specific details of the transactions under scrutiny have not been made public, the inquiries appear to focus on customer-related fund movements rather than the exchange itself. Binance has expressed concern regarding employee safety and is cooperating with Dubai Police and other Emirati authorities.
