Binance offers 150‑fold KOSPI leverage futures, attracting $1 trillion in trades

Binance has listed a futures contract, KORUUSDT, that tracks the KOSPI 3‑times leveraged ETF (KORU) and permits up to 150‑fold leverage. The product launched on 22 March with a 20‑times leverage limit, which was raised to 50 times on 26 March, effectively allowing investors to bet up to 150 times on KOSPI movements. When KOSPI falls just 0.66 %, the position is liquidated in full.

The exchange also added 50‑fold leveraged contracts for Samsung, SK Hynix and Hyundai stocks. Within four days, KORUUSDT generated roughly $7.5 billion in volume, while SK Hynix‑linked futures saw about $64 billion, Hyundai $4.7 billion and Samsung $0.5 billion. Korean traders can access these products by buying USDT on local crypto platforms and transferring it to Binance, which operates without the investor‑protection safeguards required in South Korea. Regulators in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and other jurisdictions have blocked domestic access to Binance, and Korean authorities are raising concerns about capital outflow, market volatility and the lack of legal recourse for losses.
