Binance Pay enables USDT payments at PayPay merchants in Japan
Binance Pay has launched a service allowing eligible overseas travelers in Japan to make payments using Tether USDt (USDT) at millions of merchants that support the PayPay QR code payment network. The integration, which began on September 30, 2026, utilizes the HIVEX interoperability framework developed by TBCASoft to connect international digital asset wallets with local payment rails.
Under this system, users can select from over 100 supported cryptocurrencies, which are automatically converted to Japanese yen at the point of sale. This allows merchants to receive settlements in yen without needing to register separately for the service or manage cryptocurrency infrastructure. The service is specifically designed for international visitors who have completed identity verification on Binance.com and is not available to residents of Japan or Binance Japan users.
The rollout targets Japan’s significant international tourism market, aiming to bridge the gap between digital assets and established fiat-based payment ecosystems. By leveraging existing QR code infrastructure, the partnership seeks to provide a seamless, borderless payment experience for approximately 48 million eligible Binance Pay users across more than 100 countries and regions.
