Binance to Halt EU Services After Missing MiCA License Deadline

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced it will suspend a range of services for European Union users from 1 July 2026 because it failed to obtain a required MiCA (Markets in Crypto‑Assets) licence before the deadline. The suspension affects customers in Poland, France, Italy, Spain and other EU states; the exchange said assets remain safely held and accessible, and it has halted new EU registrations.

The company withdrew its MiCA application in Greece after regulators raised concerns about its anti‑money‑laundering record, corporate structure and senior‑management fitness. Binance is now pursuing a licence in France and other member states, asserting that it intends to remain in the European market.

Competitors Coinbase and OKX have launched promotional campaigns offering transfer bonuses and deposit‑matching incentives to attract Binance users ahead of the regulatory cutoff. The situation highlights the broader impact of the EU’s unified crypto‑asset rulebook on market participants and underscores regulatory scrutiny of large exchanges.
