Bindura University promotes rural industrialisation in Zimbabwe
Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) is advancing rural industrialisation in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland Central Province through agro-processing, technology development, and local manufacturing. Vice Chancellor Professor Eddie Mwenje stated that the university is creating community-based enterprises and digital technologies to convert local resources into commercial products and employment opportunities.
Key initiatives include the Masawu project in Muzarabani, which processes fruit into products such as juice and soap. The university is also working with Chinese partners to develop and locally assemble agricultural drone technology for tasks like crop spraying. Additionally, BUSE’s technology programs involve the assembly of Palpo-branded tablets, laptops, and smartphones.
