Binghamton University researcher receives NSF grant for healthcare robotics

Stephanie Tulk Jesso, an assistant professor at Binghamton University, has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER grant to advance human-centered robotics in healthcare. The research focuses on designing AI platforms and robotic systems that prioritize the needs of nurses to improve workflow and reduce cognitive load.

The project aims to create intuitive, safe robotic assistants that can work harmoniously with medical professionals. Tulk Jesso emphasizes that while autonomous tools offer significant benefits, careful design is required to prevent potential harm during human-robot interaction.
