Bingöl beekeepers move hives seasonally to produce certified honey

Brothers Engin and Aydın Tüz have practiced nomadic beekeeping for 26 years to produce EU-certified Bingöl honey. To ensure their bees have access to diverse nectar and pollen sources, the brothers move their hives according to the seasons.

During the winter months, they relocate their hives to Adana and Mersin. In late May, they return to the Adaklı district in Bingöl, and by June, they move the hives to high-altitude plateaus, such as the Mercan Plateau, to take advantage of the rich flora.

The brothers noted that seasonal rainfall has enriched the vegetation this year, leading to a successful harvest. They highlighted that demand for Bingöl honey has increased following its official certification.
