Bingöl begins transformation of 350-dönüm military area

A major urban transformation project has commenced in Bingöl, Turkey, involving the conversion of a 350-dönüm (approximately 350,000 square meters) area previously used for military purposes. The project is being implemented in four main stages, with the first phase focusing on a 20-dönüm section that was transferred to the Bingöl Municipality without conditions.

Work has begun on demolishing walls in the initial 20-dönüm area to establish roads, public spaces, and expanded commercial zones. This first stage is designed to generate revenue to fund subsequent phases of the project without placing an additional burden on the municipal budget.

The long-term master plan dictates that approximately two-thirds of the total 350-dönüm area will be dedicated to parks, green spaces, education, places of worship, and social areas. The project also aims to alleviate city center traffic by creating new roads, intersections, and alternative transportation routes. The development will integrate residential, health, social, and commercial functions under a holistic urban planning approach, with 12 dönüm reserved for the Bingöl Special Provincial Administration.
