Binter and GMR Canarias promote Canary Island fruit on flights
Binter airline and the public agency GMR Canarias launched a July initiative to showcase Canary Islands agricultural products aboard their flights. The first action, carried out on seven routes—including inter‑island services and a Madrid connection—offered passengers medium‑sized plums from Gran Canaria, part of the island’s Fruit Valorisation Project backed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. QR codes on board linked travellers to information about the fruit and the local producers.
The program will run throughout the year, with planned promotions of other seasonal items such as limes, mandarins, wine and chestnuts, aiming to increase visibility for the region’s primary sector and support sustainable economic development in the archipelago.
