Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd granted 30-year operating mandate

Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB), has been granted a 30-year mandate to operate Bintulu Port, effective until August 31, 2056. This follows the official return of the port to the Sarawak government on September 16, after 48 years of federal jurisdiction.

BPHB Chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki stated that the long-term mandate provides a clear operational framework for the group to pursue growth and transformation. The company also reported strong financial performance, contributing RM802.3 million in dividends to the Sarawak State Financial Secretary and Equisar Assets Sdn Bhd.

Operationally, Biport Bulkers continues to handle approximately four million tonnes of cargo annually, representing about 25 percent of Sarawak’s total exports. BPHB is also working toward making Bintulu Port a major regional hub by 2030 through capacity expansion and sustainable initiatives, including the recent launch of a Regional Halal Hub.
