Binwell Mpundu denies authenticity of viral violent election video

Binwell Mpundu, Chairperson for Presidential Affairs of the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance, has denied the authenticity of a viral video in which a person appearing to be him claimed he was "ready to die, I'm ready to kill" for the upcoming elections.

Mpundu stated the video is entirely artificial intelligence-generated and claimed his social media account was compromised by a hacker several days prior to the video's appearance. He noted that he is not very active on social media and that his administrators only publish content he has approved. He issued an apology for the sentiments expressed in the video and urged the public to disregard the content.

The incident occurs during a period of heightened political tension ahead of Zambia's general elections. The Zambia Police Service has confirmed they have reviewed the footage, as authorities continue to monitor for statements that could incite political violence.
