Kaufland revamps cosmetics departments and tests AI technology

Kaufland is implementing significant changes to its cosmetics and personal hygiene departments to compete more directly with specialized drugstores. The retail chain is redesigning its sales floor layout, featuring lower and brighter shelving to improve product visibility.

Key updates include a redesign of the Bevola private label packaging, which now utilizes a three-digit system to help customers easily identify product types, specific care areas, and scents. The retailer is also introducing fragrance stations, allowing customers to test scents without opening product bottles.

Additionally, Kaufland is testing artificial intelligence technology in selected branches in Berlin. This includes smart mirrors capable of analyzing skin and hair conditions to provide personalized product recommendations to shoppers.
