Inder invests in Nicoya Peninsula while Chile launches Biobío investment initiative
The Rural Development Institute (Inder) in Costa Rica has announced a capital investment exceeding ₡611 million to stimulate economic recovery in the southern Nicoya Peninsula. The funds target various regional needs, including support for female entrepreneurs in the textile sector, artisanal fishers through the provision of outboard motors, and social infrastructure for the elderly. The initiative aims to reduce economic disparities between urban centers and peripheral coastal communities in districts such as Paquera, Cóbano, and Lepanto.
In Chile, Biminister Daniel Mas launched the first Regional Investment Table in the Biobío region to accelerate economic projects and address high unemployment. The initiative seeks to identify and resolve administrative bottlenecks for various investment projects to foster job creation. As part of this regional focus, Mas met with industrial fishing and salmon industry unions in Talcahuano to discuss employment challenges, capture quotas, and regulatory issues.
