Biobío region prepares for 2026 Fiestas Patrias celebrations

Municipalities in the Biobío region, including Gran Concepción, are preparing for the 2026 Fiestas Patrias celebrations. Local authorities are implementing various strategies to manage the expected increase in visitors and logistical demands during the five-day period.

In Concepción, the official festivities will be held at the Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium from September 16 to 20. The venue will feature a renovated production including a 2,400-square-meter main tent for the official 'Fonda', a food truck area, artisans, and traditional games. Security measures will include metal detectors, access controls, and security guards. A contingency plan is also in place to move events to the Municipal Gymnasium in the event of inclement weather.

Some municipalities in the region are exploring unique approaches, such as implementing zero-tolerance alcohol policies to enhance safety, while others are planning massive events expected to attract over 150,000 people.
