Biobío Region sees zero environmental assessment backlog
The Chilean Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has eliminated delays in environmental impact assessments within the Biobío Region, reducing the backlog from 31% to 0% over a six-month period.
This administrative efficiency is expected to unlock approximately US$ 1 billion in regional investments. Key projects include the US$ 400 million Costanera Sur, the long-awaited Amdel Bridge, and strategic road connections between Ruta del Itata and Ruta Cabrero, as well as the Costanera Norte extension toward Hualqui.
Additionally, the “Chile Despega” plan is projected to inject 30 billion pesos into 31 regional construction initiatives, which is estimated to create roughly 2,500 direct jobs to support regional economic reactivation.
