Bioceanic Bridge linking Paraguay and Brazil within 21 m of completion

The international Bioceanic Bridge, spanning the Paraguay River between Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay and Puerto Murtinho in Brazil, is now only 21 metres shy of a physical connection. Work is focused on the central span and the final concrete closure units (“dovelas”) as well as protective barriers for vehicular and pedestrian safety.

The project, led by the Binational Consortium PYBRA with an investment of roughly 684.6 million guaraníes, forms a key segment of the broader Bioceanic Corridor that will link the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile. Complementary access roads will connect the bridge to Paraguay’s Route PY15, adding about 3.8 km of asphalt. Upon opening, the bridge is expected to cut freight‑transport times, strengthen logistics and boost the economic development of Paraguay’s Chaco region.
