Bioeconomy leaders emphasize technology transfer and industrial collaboration
Global and regional leaders in the bioeconomy sector are calling for increased collaboration between scientific research and industrial application to drive sustainable production and economic value.
At the Global Bioeconomy Alliance Annual Conference held at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Volker Sieber, president of the Global Bioeconomy Alliance, highlighted that the primary challenge is not merely expanding scientific infrastructure, but ensuring research translates into concrete benefits for society and the productive sector. He emphasized that innovation requires collaboration to bridge the gap between research centers and corporate operational needs.
In Argentina, the upcoming BioArgentina 2026 event in Bariloche aims to address similar challenges. Graciela Ciccia, executive director of the Argentine Biotechnology Chamber (CAB), noted the difficulty in reconciling the different timelines and objectives of researchers and entrepreneurs. The event seeks to connect university and research center knowledge with regional productive needs through business rounds and specialized panels.
