BioflexBot robotic hand achieves high precision with simplified design

Researchers have developed the BioflexBot, a robotic hand that matches or exceeds human dexterity in specific fundamental movements through a simplified design. Unlike traditional anthropomorphic robots that attempt to replicate complex human anatomy, the BioflexBot utilizes a less intricate structure consisting of a helical spring, a confinement shell, and a basic pneumatic mechanism powered by compressed air.

The system can perform various essential actions, such as pinching, rotating, hooking, and grasping objects, using only two pneumatic inputs. In precision tests, the device successfully manipulated an acupuncture needle and transported liquid using a pipette. It also demonstrated the ability to rotate a bottle cap multiple times, proving its effectiveness in tasks requiring delicate control and precision.
