Biogem hosts 18th ‘Le Due Culture’ Meeting in Ariano Irpino

The 18th edition of the ‘Le Due Culture’ Meeting has concluded in Ariano Irpino at the Biogem headquarters. The event brought together scholars, researchers, intellectuals, and institutional representatives to discuss the theme ‘Science, the Human, the West’.

Discussions focused on the extent to which scientific progress and technological applications, such as artificial intelligence, neuroscience, and genetics, transform human life and social values. The meeting aimed to facilitate a dialogue between scientific and humanistic cultures, highlighting both the opportunities and risks of technological advancement on individual and collective choices.

During the opening session, historian Aldo Schiavone addressed the crisis of the West, noting the paradox of a region that drove globalization yet currently faces internal divisions and challenges in defining its identity. The 2027 theme for the meeting will be ‘Nature and History’.
