Regional updates: Water costs in Vienna and infrastructure projects in Linz and Germany

Various regional reports highlight local developments across Central Europe. In Vienna, an analysis by the Arbeiterkammer Wien reveals that 23 out of 30 surveyed restaurants charge for tap water, with average prices reaching 2.05 euros per half liter—a 47.5 percent increase since 2014.

In Linz, a new misting system at Volksgarten is set to begin operation to provide cooling during temperatures exceeding 25 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in Battenberg, a 1.4 million euro renovation of the Bärenbad swimming pool's water treatment system has led to a multi-month closure.

Other notable incidents include a fatal accident in the Main-Danube Canal where a 17-year-old jumped from a bridge, and a drug raid in Lüneburg resulting in the seizure of cocaine and marijuana. In Alsfeld, a land consolidation project has successfully expanded the Antrift river's natural flood area to 6.1 hectares.
