Bioinputs in Ag Forum highlights growth and regulatory needs

The III Bioinputs in Ag Forum, held at the Ocesp headquarters in São Paulo, brought together industry leaders, researchers, and government representatives to discuss the potential and challenges of the bioinput market. A primary focus of the debate was the need for legal certainty and a specific regulatory framework to attract continuous investment and consolidate sustainability in the field.

Data presented by Kynetec Brasil indicates that biodefensives currently cover over 107 million hectares, representing 6% of the total pesticide market. This sector is growing at a rate of more than 30% per year, significantly outpacing the national expansion of cultivated areas, which grows between 3% and 4% annually. Experts noted that the transition to biological products is becoming inevitable due to increasing pest pressure and the need for high-performance solutions that do not generate resistance.

Representatives from Abisolo and the University of São Paulo (GACInt-USP) emphasized that Brazilian sovereignty depends on intelligent data management and influence over international regulations. They highlighted Brazil's technical expertise in living inputs and tropical climate adaptation as key drivers for autonomy, provided there is transparent and secure regulation.
