Eight months after the fatal explosion at the Violanta biscuit factory in Trikala, which killed five female workers, the judicial investigation has entered a critical new phase. Families of the victims have filed a detailed memorandum with the Prosecutor of Larissa, appealing the recent decision by the Trikala Misdemeanor Court Council to replace the temporary detention of the factory owner, Konstantinos Tziortziotis, with restrictive terms.

The memorandum contains serious allegations of attempts to tamper with evidence at the site before expert findings could be finalized. These include the immediate removal of four underground LPG tanks and the rapid reconnection of electricity at the factory. Furthermore, families report a climate of intimidation and pressure exerted by management and relatives of the owner against remaining staff.

Witnesses have also come forward regarding the dismissal of at least two employees who had previously reported strong LPG odors in the days leading up to the explosion. Relatives of the deceased, including the family of Vasiliki Skambardoni, are seeking the revocation of Tziortziotis's release, arguing that these actions aim to obstruct the truth and prevent workers from testifying to investigators.
