Data from nearly 30 years of the Framingham Heart Study indicates that accelerated biological aging during middle age is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular issues, dementia in women, and higher mortality rates from all causes.
Complementary findings published in BMC Medicine suggest that dietary choices can influence biological markers. A study involving identical twins found that an eight-week vegan diet led to measurable changes in molecular indicators of aging. Specifically, certain DNA methylation estimates shifted toward patterns associated with slower biological aging. While the study does not claim to prove rejuvenation or increased longevity, it demonstrates that nutritional shifts can impact epigenetic clocks in a relatively short period.
