Biologist sues SBT for R$ 1.2 million over unpaid content

Biologist Vinícius Ferreira, known as Vini Biólogo, has filed a lawsuit against the Brazilian broadcaster SBT, seeking R$ 1.2 million in damages. Ferreira alleges that he produced content for the segment ‘Expedição Animal,’ which aired within ‘SBT Notícias,’ for approximately 11 months without receiving any payment. He claims he personally covered expenses for travel, equipment, lodging, and food during the production process.

SBT has contested these claims, stating that the content was offered by Ferreira for free in exchange for television exposure and opportunities to secure sponsorships. The broadcaster maintains that it contributed to the project by assisting with the editing and finalization of the material for about ten months. Ferreira denies that the material was provided for free and is seeking compensation for both material and moral damages.
