Biomedical engineering addresses evolving healthcare needs

The Universidad de Piura (UDEP) recently hosted a discussion titled ‘Biomedical Engineering and its contribution to public health’ to address the growing demand for professionals who can integrate engineering, technology, and health sciences.

Speakers emphasized that biomedical engineers must go beyond technical equipment repair. They are expected to act as problem-solvers who understand the specific needs of medical staff and patients. Key areas of focus for these professionals include sensors, medical devices, biomechanics, digital health, and telemedicine, as well as the management and maintenance of hospital equipment.
